CoreLogic Wins IPRs

May 26, 2016

Washington, D.C. – Paul Hastings LLP, a leading global law firm, and client CoreLogic, a leading provider of information, analytics and business services, won three inter partes reviews (“IPR”), which CoreLogic filed against Boundary Solutions, a national parcel map online database. The IPRs related to CoreLogic’s ‘352 patent, which provides online delivery of parcel-level map data.

On May 19, 2016, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (“PTAB”) issued three decisions ruling that Boundary Solutions’ claims to the ‘352 patent were unpatentable. Paul Hastings, led by partners Joseph Palys  and Naveen Modi, represented CoreLogic before the PTAB in filing these IPRs.

“CoreLogic believed that Boundary Solutions’ patents were invalid and had the PTAB allowed these types of patents to be enforced it would adversely impact not just CoreLogic, but our customers and the industry,” said Rouz Tabaddor, VP and Chief Intellectual Property Counsel and Licensing at CoreLogic. “The team at Paul Hastings, led by Joe and Naveen, did a great job persuading the PTAB that the Boundary Solutions’ patents covered well known technology.

“We’re extremely gratified by the Board’s decision,” said Joseph Palys, an intellectual property partner at Paul Hastings. "We were honored to have the opportunity to represent CoreLogic in these important cases.”

In addition to Joseph Palys and Naveen Modi‎, the Paul Hastings team included associates Daniel Zeilberger and Mita Chatterjee.

This victory follows the announcement that Paul Hastings is first among general practice firms in overall PTAB filings for 2015Naveen Modi and Joseph Palys are top five in individual filings, with Naveen first overall.
