Overview

Hanna Ali is an associate in the Litigation Department of Paul Hastings based in the firm’s New York office. Ms. Ali’s practice focuses on representing life sciences clients in a range of white collar and regulatory matters.

Prior to joining Paul Hastings, Ms. Ali was a legal fellow with a policy nonprofit where she focused on issues affecting women’s health – specifically focusing on legislative and administrative healthcare issues and the development and approval of relevant drugs. Ms. Ali’s practice is further informed by her time at a global clinical research organization where she gained industry experience servicing pharmaceutical clients – particularly in clinical trial management, drug development counseling, and the FDA approval process. She has also spent time with the Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General where she worked on fraud and abuse, compliance, and exclusion investigation matters with the Administrative and Civil Remedies Branch.

Ms. Ali earned her law degree from the University of Michigan Law School where she was Executive Development Editor of the Michigan Law Review. She is fluent in Arabic.

  • Won a full dismissal of a DOJ investigation into off-label drug promotion for Alnylam Pharmaceuticals
  • Advised SD Biosensor and SJL Partners in acquisition of Meridian Bioscience, which has won Cross-Border M&A Deal of the Year at Law.com International’s Asia Legal Awards 2023
  • Secured full dismissal in a putative class action lawsuit filed against Nissin Food Products Co., Ltd.
  • Ms. Ali is also active in pro bono efforts, particularly in issues of immigration for victims of human trafficking
