Overview

Simon F. Kung is Of Counsel in Paul Hastings's Litigation Group. An experienced trial lawyer and former federal prosecutor, Mr. Kung's practice focuses on complex patent litigation matters, with an emphasis on the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and medical device industries. He rejoined the firm in 2022.

Before rejoining the firm, Mr. Kung served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Nevada—a division of the United States Department of Justice—where he primarily investigated and prosecuted white-collar crimes, including investment fraud, identity theft, cryptocurrency fraud, and cyber intrusions. Mr. Kung was first chair trial counsel in numerous federal jury trials involving criminal defendants charged with white-collar criminal offenses. Mr. Kung also served as the International Coordinator for the district and handled extraditions and other international proceedings as part of that role.

In private practice at Paul Hastings, he has represented some of the world’s leading life sciences companies in high-stakes patent challenges to their blockbuster products, including cancer treatments, insulin products, weight-loss treatments, and anti-epileptics.
