Spearmint Energy Acquires 150MW Energy Storage Project
July 28, 2022
Houston – Paul Hastings LLP, a leading global law firm, advised Spearmint Energy, a next-generation renewable energy company, on the acquisition of a 150 MW battery energy storage project from Con Edison Development, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Con Edison Clean Energy Businesses.
Located adjacent to the King Mountain Wind Farm in Upton County, Texas, the project will provide much-needed battery energy storage assets to West Texas’ ERCOT market. The market has recently experienced a notable shift due to higher industry-wide demand for renewable power, growth attributed to the use of technology and increases in natural gas prices, as well as a weaker outlook for solar buildout.
M&A Partner Luis Gomar led the Paul Hastings team, which also included partners Greg Nelson, Michael Haun, Rocio Mendoza, Chris Carr, and Gregory Spitzer; and associates Irene Kau, Elena Rodriguez, Lucas Grunbaum, Justin Orr, and Matthew Seely.
