Paul Hastings Adds Premier Global Capital Markets and Public Company Advisory Partner
February 05, 2024
NEW YORK – Paul Hastings LLP announced today that leading capital markets and public company advisory lawyer Colin Diamond has joined the firm as a partner in New York and co-chair of global capital markets.
The former chair of the public company advisory group and a senior capital markets leader at White & Case LLP, as well as part of that firm’s emerging companies practice, Diamond focuses on securities transactions in sectors ranging from technology and life sciences to energy and industrials.
“Colin is a recognized leader in capital markets and public company advisory whose addition further elevates our capital markets practice and overall platform,” said firm Chair Frank Lopez. “His arrival reflects our ongoing commitment to building our firm with elite talent that serves our clients with a focus on excellence.”
With broad and deep experience in U.S. and international capital markets transactions, including registered equity offerings, private placements and convertible bond offerings, Diamond has worked on 30 completed IPOs in the last 10 years while also representing public companies in matters involving U.S. securities laws, including proxy statements, SEC no-action letters, and ongoing reporting requirements.
Remarkably, Diamond has worked on two of the world’s five largest IPOs – he was the lead securities lawyer on Visa’s $17.4 billion IPO, then the largest IPO in U.S. history, and he was one of the leaders of Saudi Aramco’s $25.6 billion IPO, the world’s largest IPO to date. Other notable representations include Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC, Morgan Stanley and Co. LLC and Allen & Company LLC as managing bookrunners on Lemonade Inc.’s $367 million NYSE IPO; Varonis Systems, Inc.’s $253 million offering of convertible notes and related capped-call transactions; and Hertz Global Holding’s $1.3 billion re-IPO and Nasdaq listing following its restructuring.
“There is tremendous momentum at Paul Hastings with many opportunities for me to contribute and I look forward to playing a role in continuing the firm’s strong trajectory,” said Diamond.
Diamond has been recognized by Chambers Global and Chambers USA as a leader in “Capital Markets: Debt & Equity” for ten years, a distinction shared only with the top capital markets lawyers in the world, and is also named by The Legal 500 United States in Capital Markets – Equity, and Who’s Who Legal. He is the most recent addition to the leading Paul Hastings securities and capital markets and public company advisory groups, following partners David Ambler in Palo Alto, Seo Salimi and Will Magioncalda in New York, and Sean Donahue in Washington, D.C.
