Strong Growth Continues at Paul Hastings with Executive Compensation Partner in Palo Alto
October 06, 2016
Palo Alto – Paul Hastings LLP, a leading global law firm, continues its strong growth streak with the announcement today that Daniel Stellenberg, a leading executive compensation lawyer focused on private equity, capital markets, and M&A transactions, has joined the firm as a partner in the Employment Law practice, based in Palo Alto. He joins from Pillsbury, where he worked in the firm’s Silicon Valley office. Prior to Pillsbury, Stellenberg was with Shearman & Sterling.
His arrival follows the addition of a high-profile M&A/private equity team from Shearman & Sterling in San Francisco that includes partners Mike Kennedy, Steve Camahort, and Dana Kromm. Stellenberg worked closely with the team during his tenure at Shearman & Sterling.
“Dan has a reputation as a skilled navigator of the complex compensation and benefit challenges connected to transactions, which will be a tremendous resource for our clients in Silicon Valley,” said Seth Zachary, chair of Paul Hastings. “Our Employment Law practice is a cornerstone of the firm. Adding top-tier lawyers like Dan, who are leaders in their fields, is part of why Paul Hastings continues to be recognized as one of the world’s top employment law firms,” he added.
“I’m thrilled to join Paul Hastings to be part of a vibrant Employment Law practice that I have long admired,” said Stellenberg. “I was particularly attracted to Paul Hastings’ commitment to strengthening its practices in Palo Alto and San Francisco and the tremendous opportunities presented by the firm’s continuing growth in Silicon Valley,” he added.
Stellenberg’s practice focuses on the design and implementation of equity compensation and bonus plans, executive employment and separation agreements, and the corresponding tax, accounting, and securities law issues. He is a key member of a transactional practice team, helping employers to manage the transition of employees and their benefits during and after a merger or acquisition, joint venture, or spin-off.
His experience also encompasses employee integration and retention, due diligence, golden parachute and deferred compensation issues. In addition, he also handles a broad range of compliance issues concerning complex tax, disclosure, EU data privacy, and Chinese currency exchange laws in connection with mergers, acquisitions, and equity compensation programs.
At Paul Hastings, our purpose is clear — to help our clients and people navigate new paths to growth. With a strong presence throughout Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the U.S., Paul Hastings is recognized as one of the world’s most innovative global law firms.
