Shaun Wu Appointed Independent Monitor in Connection with Sanction by the Asian Development Bank
July 30, 2020
Hong Kong & Shanghai – Paul Hastings LLP, a leading global law firm, announced today that Shaun Wu has been appointed as the Independent Compliance Monitor (“Monitor”) to an Asian company in connection with its sanction by the Asian Development Bank (“ADB”) for integrity violations. In this role, he will be assisted by Jian Wu and other members of our Investigations and White Collar Defense practice group in Asia.
As the Monitor, Mr. Wu will assess and certify whether the fraud and corruption policies and procedures implemented by the company are adequate and in compliance with internationally accepted standards. Application for release from sanction will require the Monitor’s formal certification of compliance with these conditions.
Mr. Wu has also served as the Monitor for the World Bank to large, publicly-listed corporations operating across the Asia-Pacific region in connection with their debarment by the World Bank and cross-debarment by other Multilateral Development Banks for fraudulent practices in World Bank-financed projects.
At Paul Hastings, our purpose is clear — to help our clients and people navigate new paths to growth. With a strong presence throughout Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the U.S., Paul Hastings is recognized as one of the world’s most innovative global law firms.
