Phillip W. Citroen and Ronak D. Desai Named 2020 DC Rising Stars by National Law Journal

Paul Hastings LLP, a leading global law firm, announced that Phillip W. Citroën and Ronak D. Desai were recognized by The National Law Journal as DC Rising Stars. The Rising Star award recognize the region’s 40 most promising lawyers age 40 and younger who have wielded influence in their practice areas in the D.C. area and beyond.

Phillip Citroën, an intellectual property Of Counsel in the Litigation department, described the biggest win or accomplishment in his practice. “I secured victories in six inter partes review proceedings before the [U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s Patent Trial and Appeal Board], resulting in the cancellation of all 81 challenged claims across five related patents,” said Phillip. “All victories are sweet, but these victories were particularly meaningful because a subset of the claims was previously found not unpatentable in other proceedings.”

Ronak D. Desai is a senior associate in the firm’s Litigation group. Ronak described his biggest win or accomplishment in his practice as “Formulating and executing a successful strategy on behalf of a high-profile client under simultaneous investigation by several Congressional committees and enforcement authorities. My prior Capitol Hill experience was key to achieving the result.” He added, “No one achieves anything alone. Victories are sweetened and setbacks softened when working together.”
