Paul Hastings Strengthens IP Practice With Addition of Top IP Litigators

New York, New York (August 10, 2009) Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP, a leading global law firm, announced today that Jeff Randall, Allan Soobert and Jeff Pade have joined Paul Hastings today. Mr. Randall will co-chair the firms Global Intellectual Property Practice along with Joseph M. OMalley, Jr.

Mr. Randall will be resident in the firms Palo Alto and Washington, D.C., offices, and Mr. Soobert and Mr. Pade will both reside in the Washington, D.C., office. The team specializes in patent litigation and were formerly partners at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP.

In addition to representing companies in multibillion-dollar intellectual property cases, Mr. Randall has served clients in matters across several states, including Delaware, Texas, Virginia, New York, Illinois and California. An experienced patent litigator, having won more than 30 jury trials, Mr. Randall has argued at more than 20 Markman hearings and has also handled numerous appeals before the California Court of Appeal, the California Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. Mr. Randall is a graduate of the University of Oregon and earned his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of Law.

With experience navigating all phases of complex litigation, Mr. Soobert has represented major technology companies in multibillion-dollar patent disputes before trial and appellate courts across the United States. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Soobert worked as a satellite communications engineer at SAIC. He holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from George Mason University. Mr. Soobert earned his J.D. from Franklin Pierce Law Center where he was editor of IDEA, The Journal of Law and Technology, and he received an LL.M. in Intellectual Property from George Washington University Law School.

A registered patent attorney, Mr. Pade has represented clients in patent litigation matters before arbitration panels, U.S. federal district courts and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. His knowledge of patent law spans a broad range of technologies, including software, semiconductor manufacturing, sports equipment, mechanical processes, advanced materials and power generators. Before joining Skadden, Mr. Pade interned for the Honorable Norman H. Stahl of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. He received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin and his J.D. from the Franklin Pierce Law Center. Prior to law school, Mr. Pade was an engineer in the water treatment and aerospace industries.
