New York, NY (April 25, 2006) – Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP (Paul Hastings), a leading international law firm, represented CKX, Inc. in its acquisition of an 80% interest in the name, image and likeness of Muhammad Ali. The deal, valued at $50 million, closed on April 11, 2006.
As the three-time heavyweight champion of the world, Muhammad Ali, who retired in 1981, has been named “Athlete of the Century” by USA Today and Sports Illustrated. He has also been the recipient of countless awards for his humanitarian efforts.

In February 2005, Paul Hastings also represented CKX, Inc. when they acquired an 85% interest in the company Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc., including its physical and intellectual properties.

Additionally, Paul Hastings represented CKX, Inc. in their acquisition of 19 Entertainment Limited, the company best known for creating the American Idol television program. The deal, which closed in March 2005, was valued at $124.4 million.
