Paul Hastings Represents Applied Biosystems in the Acquisition of Agencourt Personal Genomics for $120 million
Los Angeles, CA and New York, NY (July 19, 2006) - The Mergers & Acquisition Group of Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP (Paul Hastings), a leading international law firm, represented client Applied Biosystems, an Applera Corporation business in the acquisition of Agencourt Personal Genomics (APG), a privately-held developer of next-generation genetic analysis technologies, for approximately $120 million in cash. The transaction closed on July 10, 2006.
APG was incorporated in 2005 as a separate company owned by Agencourt Bioscience Corp. The parent company was acquired by Beckman Coulter Inc. later that year. Since then, Beckman Coulter has owned 49 percent of APG, with 51 percent held by APG management and other shareholders.
The Paul Hastings team, led by M&A partner Deyan Spiridonov, also included associates Teri O'Brien and Iver Larson.
