Paul Hastings Named Innovator of the Year by International Legal Technology Association
September 04, 2020
New York—Paul Hastings LLP, a leading global law firm, announced today that the firm was named the Innovator of the Year by the International Legal Technology Association (ILTA) in its 2020 Distinguished Peer Awards.
In a presentation hosted by ILTA, Amy Wegener, the firm’s Chief Practice Innovation Officer, provided examples of how Paul Hastings delivers client service excellence through a commitment to innovative technology solutions that support the work of the firm’s lawyers. “In our Practice Innovation department, we are able to develop proprietary tools for the benefit of our attorneys, as well as licensing out-of-the-box solutions,” said Wegener. “This has enabled the team to create innovative solutions to practice problems, such as PH Market Scorecard, a unique data visualization tool that consistently predicts market trends ahead of industry publications, giving our attorneys a competitive edge.”
The Innovator of the Year Award recognized the firm’s Practice Innovation department broadly, but specifically noted the leadership of Wegener, Managing Director of Innovation and Knowledge Nicola Shaver, and Managing Director of Practice Management and Innovation Cassie Vertovec. “Paul Hastings is thoroughly committed to innovation, both on the legal side and in the business of law,” according to ILTA. “Innovation is one of the firm’s three core brand values, and the firm embodies this value by supporting innovation initiatives at every level.”
In addition to this firm-wide recognition, two members of Paul Hastings’ Practice Innovation team were recognized individually:
Nicola Shaver was honored as Innovative Leader of the Year, which recognizes outstanding achievement by an individual maximizing the value of innovative technology in support of legal professionals. As noted during the awards ceremony, “She stood out for her seemingly tireless efforts, her steady stream of innovative ideas, and her demonstrated commitment to sharing knowledge.”
Xavier Paredes, Senior Business Analyst, was recognized among ILTA’s Young Professionals to Watch, a select group of rising young professionals who have demonstrated outstanding achievements, professionalism, and leadership in the legal technology space.
ILTA’s annual awards program honors individuals and firms who are committed to client service and that have “delivered great business value and transformational impact through their innovations and implementations,” according to the organization.
