Paul Hastings Investigations and White Collar Defense Practice Named Most Impressive Investigations Practice by Leading Industry Publication Global Investigations Review
October 31, 2017
Washington, D.C., and New York – Paul Hastings LLP, a leading global law firm, announced today that the firm’s Investigations and White Collar Defense practice has been named Most Impressive Investigations Practice by Global Investigations Review (GIR). Paul Hastings also was ranked in the Top 20 of the GIR 100, an annual guide to the world’s leading cross-border investigations practices.
“Paul Hastings outshines competitors in part by the sheer number of star lawyers on its white-collar team,” explained GIR.
“Paul Hastings has had a particularly impressive year,” and GIR noted the firm’s representation of Braskem in a landmark $957 million global settlement with authorities in Brazil, Switzerland, and the United States. The $3.5 billion combined settlement with Odebrecht S.A., Braskem’s major shareholder, is the largest FCPA settlement of all time. GIR also noted the firm’s work in helping medical device company Orthofix secure its FCPA settlement in the U.S. and construction company CDM Smith secure an FCPA Pilot Program declination in June.
The honors from GIR follow additional recognition for Paul Hastings’ Investigations and White Collar Defense practice, which was recognized with American Lawyer’s Global Dispute of the Year: Investigations (Latin America) for its work in securing the global trilateral settlement for Braskem, and Securities Docket, which honored Thomas Zaccaro, in its Enforcement 40, a list of the 40 best and brightest securities enforcement defense attorneys in the industry.
Paul Hastings’ Investigations and White Collar Defense practice has continued to grow over the years, most recently with the addition of Simon Airey in London, who has defended against some of the UK’s Serious Fraud Office’s largest prosecutions, and Jane Yoon, who joined in New York after serving as an Assistant United States Attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey. In 2016, former Securities and Exchange Commission attorneys Thomas Zaccaro and Nicolas Morgan joined and former federal prosecutors Robert Luskin, Jay Darden, and Kwame Manley were added in 2015.
At Paul Hastings, our purpose is clear — to help our clients and people navigate new paths to growth. With a strong presence throughout Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the U.S., Paul Hastings is recognized as one of the world’s most innovative global law firms.
