Paul Hastings Expands Global Litigation Practice With Addition Of White House Special Assistant Laura Flippin To The Washington DC Office

Washington (June 27, 2005) -- Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP (Paul Hastings), a leading international law firm, is pleased to announce today that Laura Flippin, Special Assistant to President Bush, and former Deputy Assistant Attorney General, has joined its litigation department, resident in the Washington DC office.  Ms. Flippin specializes in civil and criminal fraud-related claims, government and internal investigations, and securities banking and laws, and has extensive experience in trial and appellate litigation, at one point overseeing over one third of the civil litigation caseload for the U.S. Department of Justice.

Currently we have approximately 100 attorneys and expect to have more than 120 by the end of 2005,” said Barbara Brown, Chair of the Washington office. Laura Flippin has served in two capacities at the White House, most recently as Special Assistant to President Bush as a Commissioned Officer and Executive Secretary of the Homeland Security Council. Previously, Ms. Flippin was Deputy Assistant Attorney General at the United States Department of Justice. At the DOJ, she oversaw the Office of Immigration Litigation, and the Office of Consumer Litigation, where she supervised more than 150 attorneys and staff.  Prior to that, she served in the White House Counsel’s office, as Clearance Counsel, handling Presidential appointments and nominations.
