Paul Hastings Assists on Record Charitable Gift for Children's Surgery
September 23, 2009
Paul Hastings lawyers Marty Edelman, a partner in the New York office and Hamilton Loeb, a partner in the Washington, D.C. office, have advised the Government of Abu Dhabi in its recent donation of $150 million to the Childrens National Medical Center. The record donation will establish a new pediatric surgery institute on the Centers' campus, and was given in recognition of Childrens' leadership in treating childhood conditions. This donation was made through the offices of the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and UAE Ambassador to the U.S., on behalf of the people of Abu Dhabi. Children's is one of the world's leading hospitals devoted to medical treatment and research for children, and the new surgery institute will be named in honor of the founder of the UAE, Sheikh Zayad. The donation is the largest ever received by Children's or by a hospital devoted to childrens' medical activities, and is one of the 10 largest charitable donations of this decade.
