Paul Hastings Advises Intertrust on Launch of PatentShield
April 25, 2017
Paul Hastings LLP, a leading global law firm, announced today that the firm represented Intertrust Technologies Corporation in the launch of PatentShield, an intellectual property program designed to assist startup companies to defend against patent litigation threats. Intertrust, a leading global provider of trusted computing products and services, launched the program in partnership with Google.
The Paul Hastings team was led by partner Samuel Waxman, and included associate Michael Vargas.
PatentShield will allow startup companies to focus their resources on early-stage growth and innovation, rather than worrying about often frivolous patent infringement lawsuits that can derail an emerging company’s momentum.
The Emerging Growth Companies team at Paul Hastings has advised on dozens of matters for startups and their investors, including Deerfield Management, Takeda Pharmaceutical Company and Bay City Capital, in connection with the formation of Bridge Medicines, a drug discovery company launched in partnership with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, The Rockefeller University and Weill Cornell Medicine; Avalon Ventures’ $495 million life sciences collaboration with GlaxoSmithKline; TouchCommerce’s acquisition by Nuance Communications and Collective Digital Studio in its merger with Prosieben’s Studio71.
At Paul Hastings, our purpose is clear—to help our clients and people navigate new paths to growth. With a strong presence throughout Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the U.S., Paul Hastings is recognized as one of the world’s most innovative global law firms.
