GI Partners to Acquire and Simultaneously Combine Cord Blood Registry and California Cryobank

Orange County -- Paul Hastings LLP, a leading global law firm, is representing GI Partners, a leading private equity firm, in connection with its acquisitions of California Cryobank, the world's premier donor sperm and egg bank, and Cord Blood Registry, the world's largest stem cell collection and storage company, and combination of the two businesses.
Paul Hastings is acting as legal advisor to GI Partners in connection with the transactions. The combined transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2018, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.
The Paul Hastings team is led by Corporate partner Brandon Howald and also includes Corporate partner Jason Rednour, Leveraged Finance partner Lindsay Sparks and Tax partner Ziemowit Smulkowski; Corporate of counsel Jeremy Rocklage; and associates Joe Swanson, Sam Ghaffarzadeh, Cameron Cotton, Stan Kalminsky and law clerk Justin Montis.

The combined company represents the fifth platform investment in GI Partners Fund V, a $2.8 billion fund raised in 2017. Paul Hastings has represented GI Partners in numerous transactions spanning over a decade.
