AEW Capital Management Closes New Fund Focused on Asia Real Estate
September 12, 2016
NEW YORK – Paul Hastings LLP, a leading global law firm, represented AEW Value Investors Asia II and its sponsor AEW Capital Management in the formation of a $590.2 million private investment fund focused on value-add real estate investment opportunities in Asia.
The fund raised capital from a diverse institutional investor base including, among others, public and private pension funds and insurance companies based in both the United States and Europe. A master fund was formed in Jersey while a parallel fund and feeder fund were formed in Luxembourg to help facilitate capital commitments from investors in varying jurisdictions.
Paul Hastings also represented the fund in establishing a subscription line credit facility arranged by Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation.
Private Investment Funds partner Joshua Sternoff led the Paul Hastings team, with help from Tax partner Andrew Short, and Corporate partner Neil Torpey, in addition to associates Max Rosenberg, Joshua Milgrom and Michaela Dudley. Private Investment Funds partner Thomas Rao led the efforts in establishing the subscription line credit facility.
