
Overview
Stuart Downey is an associate based in the firm's Century City office. He advises clients, including public and private companies, board of directors, special committees, private equity and venture capital firms, entertainers, and celebrities, in a variety of transactions in the film and television industry, including mergers, stock and asset acquisitions and divestitures, minority investments, public and private capital raising transactions, joint ventures, strategic partnerships, and cross-border transactions. His practice additionally focuses on entertainment content licensing, talent deals and general corporate counseling.
Stuart received his J.D. from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law, where he graduated Order of the Coif and earned certificates in Business and Entertainment Law. Stuart holds an M.A., with distinction, in Cultural and Creative Industries from King's College London.
His dissertation evaluated Video on Demand distribution platforms and their financial effects on independent film distributors. Stuart graduated summa cum laude from the University of Oklahoma, receiving a B.A. in political science. Stuart is admitted to practice in the state of California.
