U.S. Court Ruling Invalidates Aspects of Presidential Authority to Designate Global Terrorists; Limited Corporate Impact Expected

In a November 21, 2006 ruling, the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Los Angeles struck down President Bush’s authority under Executive Order 13224 to designate certain groups and individuals as terrorists. The Order was issued on September 23, 2001, in the wake of the September 11th terrorist attacks.
