The Renewable Energy, Electric Transmission and Energy Tax Provisions of the 2009 Economic Stimulus Bill Passed by the U.S. House of Representatives

At the request of President Obama, the United States Congress is considering a massive legislative stimulus proposal. The United States House of Representatives has already passed its version of this legislation, known as H.R. 1, and entitled the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The Senate has taken up H.R. 1 and is currently in the process of debating its own amendments to that legislation. Eventually both Houses of Congress will have to reconcile their differences on this legislation in order to have a final version sent to the President, and President Obama has requested that the final version of this legislation be ready for his signature by the middle of February. This alert summarizes the key renewable energy, electric transmission and energy tax provisions contained within the House passed version and will be updated when the Senate passes its version of the stimulus and the President signs the measure into law.
