Mitchell B. Menzer, Jeffrey S. Haber, Elisa L. Paster and Edgar Khalatian
Background
On August 12, 2009, the City Council of Los Angeles approved significant increases in the fees for Planning Department applications. The City adopted the fee increases in order to recover more of the costs of processing land use applications. According to the City Attorneys Office, fee increases will become effective on October 26, 2009. Applications filed before this date will not be subject to the fee increase. Therefore, project applicants are encouraged to consider submitting applications for land use approvals prior to the effective date to reduce application costs.
