U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services ("USCIS") announced this week a final rule changing the maximum period of stay for TN workers to three years instead of the previous maximum of one year. TN workers from Mexico and Canada may now be admitted for up to three years and may receive extensions of stay in increments of up to three years. Spouses and unmarried minor children of TN workers also benefit from this rule change and may be admitted in TD status for up to three years to conincide with the expiration of the principal's admission in TN status.
