FCC Launches Inquiry Into Provision of Broadband Over Power Lines

To promote broadband deployment – especially in underserved areas – the Federal Communications Commission has launched an inquiry into the provision of high-speed Internet services over power lines. “Broadband over power line” technology allows consumers to network their electronics equipment and access the Internet using existing electrical outlets and an interface device. Utilities can also use BPL to more effectively manage their power networks.
