Clean Air and Fresh Law: UK Employment Law Developments
April 30, 2007
Chris Bracebridge and Anna Hermelin
For health policy reasons, smoking in indoor public spaces will be banned in England from 1 July 2007, affecting most workplaces.
Following a Government review, the generally unloved statutory dispute resolution procedures look set to be scrapped eventually.
The 2007 UK Budget contains reforms that businesses need to be aware of, and new laws affecting employers have been implemented during April 2007.
Employers should start preparing for the smoking ban, and update relevant policies and procedures in light of the ban and the April legislative changes.
