Asia Outbound Real Estate Investment: Trends, Opportunities and Strategies (Part I)
July 25, 2014
BY JOEL ROTHSTEIN
Cross-border investment flows from Asia into real estate in the United States, Europe and other developed markets has accelerated. Asia institutional investors, including sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, insurance companies, asset managers and other financial institutions are coming of age and are allocating a greater portion of their ballooning assets under management to real estate in foreign markets. At the same time, Asia-based real estate developers with global ambitions have set their sights on developing and owning projects far from their home countries. In an exclusive two part podcast series, Joel Rothstein, a U.S. and Asia-based Real Estate partner at Paul Hastings, examines the latest trends in Asia cross-border real estate investment and assess the implications of these trends on market players in Asian and Western markets.
In the first podcast, Mr. Rothstein identifies and discusses the most important trends in Asia cross border investment flows in the past year and evaluates the reasons for the accelerating cross-border deal activity.
