Shared Services Essential to M&A: Mergers & Acquisitions

The FCC is considering regulatory changes that could render unavailable one of the essential tools that broadcast television operators have used to succeed in the challenging economic environment. New regulation of "shared services" arrangements among same-market broadcasters would raise the costs of operating certain TV stations (particularly weaker and small-market stations) and would tighten the M&A market by raising barriers to entry.
