Paul Hastings Wins Six “Deal of the Year” Awards at LatinFinance’s Project & Infrastructure Finance Awards 2024

Paul Hastings’ Energy and Infrastructure team won an impressive six “Deal of the Year” awards at LatinFinance’s Project & Infrastructure Finance Awards 2024. Over the past year, the team represented various entities across Latin America, showcasing their prowess in the region and excellence in client service.
The firm was recognized in the following categories:
Infrastructure Financing of the Year: Southern Cone – Aconcagua Desalinization Project Financing
Paul Hastings advised the lenders in connection with the $883 million term loan and letter of credit facilities to finance two water infrastructure projects being developed by Patria in Chile, including the 1,000 l/s Aconcagua desalination plant in the Valparaiso region and the associated San Isidro Quilapilun aqueduct in the Valparaiso and Metropolitana region. The transaction is the first-ever financing in Chile for a multi-client desalination project.
Infrastructure Financing of the Year: Andes – Actis’ Acquisition of Enel’s Peruvian Renewable Assets
Paul Hastings advised Banco Santander, S.A., BBVA Securities Inc., Citigroup Global Markets Inc., JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A., and Natixis, as joint lead arrangers and bookrunners, along with BNP Paribas as joint lead arranger and Goldman Sachs as arranger, in the financing for Niagara Energy, a portfolio company of Actis, a leading global investor in sustainable infrastructure, in connection with the acquisition by Niagara Energy of 92.35% of Enel Generación Perú S.A.A. and 100% of Compañía Energética Veracruz S.A.C.
Infrastructure Financing of the Year: Caribbean – AES Dominicana Renewables Financing
Paul Hastings advised AES Dominicana Renewable Energy S.A. in the structured financing to support the design, construction, operation and maintenance of three greenfield non-conventional renewable energy (NCRE) projects totaling 240MWac of installed capacity (Mirasol Solar Project, Peravia I Solar Project and Peravia II Solar Project) and to refinance short-term facilities previously obtained by the borrower to build three NCRE projects (Agua Clara Wind Project, Bayasol Solar Project and Santanasol Solar Project) totaling 150MWac of installed capacity. The portfolio is located in the Dominican Republic. Paul Hastings also advised the offtaker on Feijão and Mendubim.
Renewable Energy Financing of the Year – EnfraGen Renewable Assets Acquisition & Refinancing
Paul Hastings advised EnfraGen in connection with the acquisition and financing of six renewable projects in Panama and Costa Rica, with a combined capacity of 188 MW, from affiliates of Celsia S.A.
Road Financing of the Year; Local Currency Financing of the Year – Troncales del Magdalena I & II 5G Toll Roads Financing
Paul Hastings represented the sponsors in connection with the financing of the Troncal 1 and Troncal 2 5G toll roads in Colombia.
