On October 26th, Ira Kustin, Partner in the Investment Management practice, and Chairperson of the program, will join a faculty of industry experts for a full day refresher on registration requirements for hedge fund managers. The program will cover key aspects of the Investment Advisers Act of 1940, and will address the fundamentals of terms for hedge funds. It will also discuss international requirements applied to hedge funds registration, such as the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (AIFMD), EU/UK pre-marketing rules, and requirements for selected jurisdictions in Asia and Middle East.
In addition to these topics, and new this year is the In-House Counsel Roundtable segment, which will take a deep dive into the compliance and regulatory concerns from the inside. This roundtable will consider questions such as:
- What are the issues of day-to-day concern for in-house counsel?
- What are the most prevalent risk management issues?
- What does external counsel need to know when working with in-house counsel?
Programming will also include a focus on diversity and inclusion in the alternative investment industry looking at how to more effectively eliminate structural and institutional biases in the legal system as it pertains to the investment funds industry. 1 hour of Diversity credit will be offered.
