The Northwestern University School of LawDiversity Coalition presents12th Annual Diversity Week
375 East Chicago AvenueChicago, Illinois 60611-3069
Diversity Week consists of a series of coordinated programming events geared towards educating students interested in diversity. Over the past few years, the Diversity Coalition has partnered with various student organizations such as the Black Law Student Association, the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association, OUTLaw, and the Latino Law Student Association to promote dialogue on various diversity related issues. This year, the theme is "Redefining the Meaning of Diversity." During the week, the Diversity Coalition hopes to explore the different meanings of diversity, including, but expanding upon, traditional and evolving notions of what it means to be diverse and the importance of such diversity in the modern firm.
Tarun Chandran, associate in the Paul Hastings Chicago office, will be a featured panelist on Thursday, September 24th at 12:05pm.
Panel Description:This panel will be comprised of firm recruiters, Diversity Committee members, and other attorneys from firms who have implemented or earmarked for implementation diversity programs at their firms. The panel will explore the changing meaning of diversity at law firms, what steps firms are currently taking to further diversify their attorney base, the value of a diverse workforce, how recruitment strategies and attitudes towards diversity have changed (or remain the same) both in society and at law firms in particular, and how being unique or diverse in a tough economy can be a strong asset.
