Overview
Jessica Howe is an associate in the ESG & Sustainable practice at Paul Hastings and is based in the firm’s London office.
Ms. Howe focuses her practice on counseling clients on the identification and management of ESG impacts, risks and opportunities. Ms. Howe has an extensive background in environmental law, as well as broad transactional and advisory experience, representing private equity firms, financial institutions, and public and private companies in ESG matters and M&A transactions.

SFDR and EU Taxonomy
- TPG on its SFDR and EU Taxonomy compliance strategy in respect of the Rise Climate Fund and associated acquisitions
Mergers & Acquisitions
- Advising on several large-scale mergers and acquisitions for a number of confidential multinational clients, particularly in the energy and resources sectors
- Acted as the primary environment lawyer for Stanmore Resources’ acquisition of an 80% interest in BHP Mitsui Coal for consideration of up to US$1.35 billion, including conducting environmental due diligence, advising on financial assurance requirements, and assisting in drafting documents for completion
- Acted as the primary environment lawyer for Stanmore Resources’ acquisition of the remaining 50% interest in the MetRes JV, resulting in Stanmore’s 100% ownership of the JV Projects, including conducting environmental due diligence, advising on financial assurance requirements, and assisting in drafting documents for completion
Carbon Reporting, Projects and Transactions
- Advising a number of large international resource companies as the primary lawyer regarding carbon reporting requirements, carbon border adjustment mechanisms and sanctions, emissions trading, and relevant company structures
- Advising a large international mining company on the introduction of mandatory climate-related financial reporting. Carrying out environmental due diligence and drafting transaction documents for carbon prepayment transactions for various resources clients looking to invest in new carbon projects
Renewables
- Assisting clients in the renewable energy industry to secure appropriate environmental approvals, which involves providing guidance on every phase of the project, from feasibility assessment to operational stages.
