The General Counsel of the CFPB delivered a speech to the Poverty Law Conference addressing the variety of consumer protection laws that protect impoverished individuals and how innovation and financial technology may not provide anything new or benefit consumers.

The federal bank regulatory agencies announced that they will extend the comment period on a request for information on bank-fintech arrangements involving banking products and services until October 30, 2024.

Statement: Ginnie Mae Acting President Speaks at the Barclays U.S. Rates and Residential Mortgage-Backed Securities (RMBS) Conference

Ginnie Mae Acting President Sam Valverde spoke at the Barclays U.S. Rates and RMBS Conference in Tokyo, Japan. In his remarks, Valverde emphasized the strength of the U.S.-Japan economic partnership, Ginnie Mae’s focus on social impact investing, and offered key insights into the mortgage-backed securities (MBS) market. He underscored Ginnie Mae’s mission to expand access t​o mortgage credit f​or underserved communities and highlighted the agency’s growing international engagement with investors.
