Vladimir J. Semendyai is a senior associate in the IP Litigation practice of Paul Hastings and is based in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. Vlad’s practice focuses on appeals in the United States Courts of Appeals, particularly in the Federal Circuit, and litigating patent and trade secret cases involving a variety of technologies in federal district courts. Vlad has significant appellate experience and has litigated before the United States Supreme Court and the United States Courts of Appeals for the Federal, Seventh, and Ninth Circuits. He also has broad experience in all phases of trial litigation, including motions practice, discovery, claim construction, trial preparation, trial, and oral argument preparation. Vlad also teaches the Experiential Advocacy Competition course at The George Washington University Law School, instructing moot court advocacy teams on appellate advocacy.

Vlad previously served as a law clerk to the Honorable Jimmie V. Reyna on the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. During law school, he interned for the Honorable Susan G. Braden at the United States Court of Federal Claims and assisted with drafting the Local Patent Rules for that Court.

Prior to his career as an attorney, Vlad worked for eight years as a software developer, developing web-based peer-review technologies for many of the world’s top academic journals.

Vladimir is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and the State of New York. Vlad is a member of the bars of the United States Supreme Court, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Seventh and Federal Circuit, and the United States District Court for the District of Columbia.
