Overview

Quadeer Ahmed is an associate in the Litigation department in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. Mr. Ahmed’s practice focuses on intellectual property matters, including patent litigation at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and U.S. district courts, along with appeals to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Mr. Ahmed specializes in leading administrative trials before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) at the USPTO, including inter partes reviews (IPRs), post-grant reviews (PGRs), and ex parte reexaminations. He has been involved in over 70 post-grant proceedings and has significant experience in all aspects of PTAB trials including oral argument, depositions, and USPTO procedure. He has successfully led teams in several multi-patent IPR projects.

In addition to his PTAB practice, Mr. Ahmed regularly leads corresponding portions of district court litigations, including trial, and advises on coordination strategies between cases at the PTAB and district court to deliver favorable results. His appellate practice at the Federal Circuit focuses on PTAB appeals.

Mr. Ahmed represents leading companies including Google, Samsung, and Medtronic in cases covering a wide range of technologies, including computer hardware and software, medical devices, semiconductor devices, networking, and business methods. He has led Samsung’s patent challenges across more than a dozen IPRs involving the High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) standard and Google’s patent challenges involving the predecessor H.264 video coding standard.

Mr. Ahmed has also served as an independent evaluator for various patent pools and has significant experience with developing patent portfolios including drafting and prosecuting patent applications. 

He also maintains an active pro bono practice, primarily involving immigration cases.
