Overview
Tom McKay is a partner in the Financial Restructuring group at Paul Hastings and is based in the London office.
Mr. McKay’s practice covers restructuring, insolvency and special situation matters across the spectrum, with particular focus on complex, high-value domestic and cross-border restructrings. He has acted on a number of market-leading transactions across a range of sectors (including real estate, healthcare, construction and energy) and has significant experience advising stakeholders on stressed and distressed debt, in and out-of-court restructurings, insolvency procedures, capital solutions and liability management exercises.

- Counsel to Cheyne Capital in $130 million in commitments in a growth funding raise to Kindred Concepts, trading as F1 Arcade, an experiential hospitality brand, funded by Cheyne Capital, Liberty Media Corporation, Permira Credit and OakNorth
- Advising the ad hoc committee of bondholders on the restructuring of VIC Properties S.A.
- Representing the liquidators of ABRAAJ Investment Management Limited, the emerging markets-focused private equity group, on its liquidation proceedings
- Advising the majority creditor on the restructuring of the Four Seasons Health Care group
- Advising the European subsidiaries of Westinghouse Electric following the Chapter 11 filing by Westinghouse Electric, LLC and other US group entities
- Advising Pillarstone on potential investments in Greek corporates and managing the non-performing exposures of certain Greek banks
- Acting for Barclays Bank with respect to the restructuring of the General Healthcare Group and the two CMBS transactions (Theatre Hospitals No. 1 and No. 2 Plc)
- Acting for an investment fund in respect of its acquisition of a non-performing UK airport hotel loan portfolio
- Acting for the special administrators of MF Global UK Limited following the first ever filing under the Special Administration Regime
- Acting for a syndicate of banks on the restructuring of West Ham United Football Club
- Acting for the administrators of Connaught plc and various subsidiary companies, including on the sale of the Connaught businesses
- Acting for an Icelandic bank in restructuring negotiations with Bjorgolfur Thor Bjorgolfsson and his various corporate holdings, including the Actavis Group
- Acting for XL Leisure Group on its contingency planning and subsequent administration proceedings
