Overview

Jessamyn Edra is an associate in the Litigation practice of Paul Hastings and is based in the firm’s Houston office. Her practice focuses on internal and government investigations, white collar defense, and compliance counseling, with an emphasis on fraud and abuse and anti-bribery and anti-corruption. Ms. Edra also works on complex commercial litigation and international arbitration.

Ms. Edra counsels clients regarding anti-corruption compliance programs, risk assessments, conducting due diligence on third parties and in connection with acquisitions, and corruption-related internal investigations. With her secondment experience, she understands what it means to operationalize compliance counseling and to work with various stakeholders across an organization. Prior to joining Paul Hastings, Ms. Edra was a housing rights attorney for the nation’s first legal and civil rights organization serving low-income Asian Pacific American communities, where she represented plaintiffs in an affirmative fair housing litigation and defended tenants against evictions. She also worked for a multinational law firm in Boston.

Ms. Edra received her law degree from the University of California at Berkeley in 2013. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Stanford University in 2009, where she graduated with distinction. She was a 2009-2010 U.S. Fulbright Scholar to the Philippines.

  • Conducted third-party management program and risk assessment for a multinational medical device company and counseled company on enhancements to their third-party program, policies, and procedures, in view of their compliance internal investigations
  • Conducted pre-close and post-close ABAC due diligence and post-close integration efforts in connection with a billion-plus-dollar acquisition of a multinational pharmaceutical company
  • Conducted proactive compliance review on behalf of a multinational rare disease company in Italy and supported the company in its resolution negotiations of an FCPA matter before the Department of Justice and Securities and Exchange Commission
  • Represented a multinational construction machinery company in an ICC arbitration involving a manufacturing joint venture
