Paul Hastings (Europe) LLP is advising the shareholders of The Co-Operative Bank on the £780 million sale to Coventry Building Society. The transaction will create a combined group with a pro forma balance sheet of £89 billion as at 31 December 2023.

Partner Matthew Poxon, senior associate Matthew Calvert and associate Silas Raggett are leading the Paul Hastings team, which also includes partners Jiten Tank and Nina Moffatt; and trainee Orla Cooke.

The transaction is subject to regulatory approval from both the PRA and FCA.
