Paul Hastings Wins Intellectual Property Magazines 2010 Pharmaceutical Team of the Year Award
December 03, 2010
New York, NY (December 3, 2010) Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP, a leading global law firm, announced today that the firms pharmaceutical patent litigation team won the 2010 Pharmaceutical Team of the Year Award at the inaugural Intellectual Property Magazine Awards 2010.
The awards honored some of the most influential and high-profile IP practitioners from around the world. Winners were recognized in 13 categories and featured both in-house and private practice IP specialists. Joseph M. OMalley, Jr., global co-chair of Paul Hastings Intellectual Property practice and Bruce Wexler, partner in the Intellectual Property practice, accepted the award on behalf of the Paul Hastings team at a reception held November 30 in London, UK.
An independent judging panel, comprised of industry experts including Gerhard Bauer, president elect of the INTA; Paul Davey, group director for IP at Vodafone UK, Jackie Duff, regional manager Europe, Eurasia and Africa for the Coca-Cola Company; and Kim Teraberry, director of Starbucks Coffee; selected the Paul Hastings team for the award based on its numerous successes in 2010 for clients in bet-the-company suits with billions of dollars at stake. These successes include a complete victory on a $2 billion jury trial for Wyeth (acquired by Pfizer in 2009) and Altana Pharma AG, regarding the companies ulcer drug Protonix®, and a precedent setting appellate win for client Boehringer Ingelheim over its critically significant Parkinsons disease drug Mirapex®.
