Paul Hastings Expands Generous Parental Leave Policy to London Office
November 26, 2019
London – Paul Hastings LLP, a leading global law firm, announced today that certain enhancements made to the firm’s parental leave policy in the United States, announced in July this year, will be rolled out to the London office, effective December 1, 2019.
Eligible employees, whether a birthing or non-birthing parent, a foster or adoptive parent, lawyer or professional staff member, will now receive the same benefit – up to 14 weeks of paid parental leave to bond with their child. All birthing parents will also be eligible to receive further leave for childbirth recovery and additional parental leave, providing up to 30 weeks of full or partially paid leave.
The expanded policy demonstrates the firm’s commitment to creating an inclusive and flexible workplace that fuels creativity and productivity for its lawyers and other professionals, and an environment where top talent can thrive and grow.
The firm is currently looking at options for rolling out the program to all other offices.
In another significant development to streamline and equalise benefits, Paul Hastings in London has also now implemented an ‘Active Wellbeing Plan’ for eligible employees. Employees utilising the plan receive up to a maximum sum of £75 per month to be used towards the employee’s choice of ongoing sport, fitness, health, and wellbeing costs, including (but not limited to): gym or sports membership, fitness classes, massage and acupuncture, entry fees for participation in events such as marathons, and the cost of sports clothing and equipment.
“As part of our commitment to diversity and inclusion, we are pleased and proud to offer this market-leading level of support and flexibility for working parents, and to create parity for eligible employees across the office,” said Ronan O’Sullivan, managing partner of Paul Hastings. “The lifestyle benefit also demonstrates our increasing focus on the wellbeing of our employees,” he added.
At Paul Hastings, our purpose is clear — to help our clients and people navigate new paths to growth. With a strong presence throughout Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the U.S., Paul Hastings is recognized as one of the world’s most innovative global law firms.
