Paul Hastings adds Payments and Financial Services Partner in London

May 13, 2014

London, UK – Global law firm Paul Hastings LLP announced today that financial services regulatory and transactional partner Ben Regnard-Weinrabe will join the London office as a partner on 9 June.

Mr. Regnard-Weinrabe will join the firm’s Global Banking & Payment Systems Group. He specialises in financial services regulation, commercial contracts and transactional work for the commercial and retail banking, consumer finance, and e-money and payment industries. Mr. Regnard-Weinrabe’s addition strengthens Paul Hastings’ services to clients in payment systems and financial services regulatory issues in the U.S., Europe and Asia.

He will join the firm from Hogan Lovells, where he is a partner in the Commercial and Retail Banking team, and co-founder and co-head of the Payments Innovation team, focusing specifically on new financial services models and businesses.

“Ben will be a tremendous addition to our Global Banking and Payment Systems practice, both personally and professionally,” said Chris Daniel, co-chair of the Global Payment Systems practice at Paul Hastings. “His understanding of regulatory matters and experience representing both traditional and non-traditional financial services companies is impressive and will benefit our clients across the globe.”

“As we continue to strengthen and diversify our London offering, attracting a partner of Ben’s reputation and experience to lead our technology and payments practice is extremely important for us,” said Ronan O’Sullivan, chair of the London office.

The Paul Hastings Global Banking and Payments Systems practice is at the forefront of the rapidly evolving world of payments systems, advising clients on the legal implications of innovations such as virtual currency, e-Money, mobile banking ventures, and global money transfer programs.

Mr. Regnard-Weinrabe is recommended in Chambers UK 2014, which says he ‘wins praise from clients for his “absolutely tremendous knowledge of the laws and regulations, and his ability to be extremely clear and pragmatic and get you through difficult situations very easily.”’

Mr. Regnard-Weinrabe’s arrival continues the growth of the London office, following the addition of real estate partner David Ryland and capital markets partner James Cole in 2013.
