Latest UK Government Proposals Would Make it Cheaper and Easier to Hire and Fire UK Employees
September 17, 2012
BY SUZANNE HORNE
On 14 September, the UK Government announced that it is consulting on proposals which, if implemented, will make it easier and cheaper for UK employers to dismiss employees and potentially lower claimant expectations for settlement. The proposals focus on the amount a former employee can claim if they are unfairly dismissed, explore how best to have those difficult conversations when the employment relationship is coming to an end and seek views on how judges can manage less meritorious claims. These proposals are the latest installment in the Governments employment law review but will help UK employers keep ahead of the curve.
