Overview

Joseph N. Wharton is an associate in the Corporate practice of Paul Hastings and is based in the firm’s Chicago office. His practice focuses on debt financing transactions and other corporate finance matters, including acquisition financings, dividend recapitalizations, cash flow and asset-based financings, loan restructurings and workouts, debtor-in-possession and exit financing facilities and other finance transactions. Prior to joining Paul Hastings, he practiced in the corporate restructuring and finance departments at two other international law firms and was in-house counsel for a Fortune 200 commercial real estate services firm.

Mr. Wharton earned his J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law, where he was a Notes and Comments Editor of the Chicago-Kent Law Review. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Southern California. Mr. Wharton is admitted to practice in Illinois.

Mr. Wharton represented various private equity firms, including Sun Capital Partners, Summit Partners, Vestar Capital, and Francisco Partners in connection with acquisitions financings, dividend recapitalizations, and other finance transactions.

In addition, Mr. Wharton has assisted numerous large companies during chapter 11 cases and out-of-court restructurings, including Indiana Toll Road, GSE Environmental, Delphi, Kmart Corporation, Blue Bird Body Co., Friedman’s, and Comdisco.
