Paul Hastings LLP, along with pro bono partner The Legal Aid Society, secured a settlement for a pro bono client in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

According to the original complaint filed in 2022, our client, a transgender man, suffered abuse while incarcerated at Bedford Hills Correctional Facility at the hands of staff employed by the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS). The lawsuit further describes the details of these events and outlines the civil rights abuses perpetrated by DOCCS staff.
