Paul Hastings Representing Beecken Petty O'Keefe & Co. In the Acquisition of a Stake in Sunrise Senior Living

Chicago, IL (September 14, 2012) - Paul Hastings LLP, a leading global law firm, announced today that the firm is representing Chicago-based private equity firm Beecken Petty O'Keefe & Company (BPOC) in connection with the purchase of the management company business of Sunrise Senior Living, Inc. (NYSE:SRZ) by a new entity in which affiliates of BPOC and global investment firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. L.P. will invest.

The transaction is being consummated in connection with the previously announced acquisition of Sunrise by Health Care REIT Inc. (NYSE:HCN), a real estate investment trust that invests in senior housing and health care real estate. Health Care REIT will also invest in the purchaser entity.

The sale is expected to close immediately prior to Health Care REIT's acquisition of Sunrise.
